CONTEXT
What's Hack the North?
Hack the North is Canada’s biggest hackathon, bringing together 1200+ hackers for 36 hours of building, learning, and community every September. Every year, we help shape the experience—from organizing mentorship, workshops, and events, to making sure attendees feel supported, inspired, and excited to create something meaningful.
THE BIG QUESTION
What could make the biggest hackathon in Canada more fun?
Quests. Prizes. Points. Achievements.
During the hectic 36 hours of a hackathon, we want to encourage more alternatives for hackers who don’t wanna lock in on a project and just enjoy the event.
Our solution?
Goose Games is our playful twist on the hackathon experience—an optional quest system where hackers can complete side missions, earn points, and unlock rewards. Whether it’s “Find the golden goose” or “Network with hackers,” organizers craft lighthearted challenges throughout the weekend to keep the energy up. Each completed quest earns points, which hackers can redeem for prizes—many of them custom-designed by our own graphic design team. It’s our way of rewarding engagement and encouraging fun, one quest at a time.

But the good news is, the design is fully done! Check it out below :)
